PS - I have a brown thumb too...
Beautiful color variation in the Chrysanthemum. I've been slipping planted pots inside larger pots for years. Easy cleanup and storage without dealing with potting soil or dirt.
Is that last picture a painting? I have a beautiful planter but nothing is in it because my thumb is not green.

if you are not changing out all the soil, that could be your problem. each time you replant in the pot, you should change all the soil. i leaned this because it is a mistake i use to make!!!
