My dollhouse:

I purchased this dollhouse already put together but not decorated from a friend who was an antique dealer. When the time came that I started working on it I realized that whoever had put it together must have been recovering from brain surgery and did it with a glue gun! I sought out help and found out that I could use a hairdryer to take it apart and clean it up.......................so I totally disassembled it and started over.

I worked on it during the O.J. Simpson trial and it gave me a good excuse to be still.

I love it because it reminds me of the old homestead of my grandparents.

Yes, I did the electrical and roofed it:)

This is the world's largest kokopelli

It is found close to Camp Verde, Arizona

It stands 32 feet high and sits on a 6 foot base

It is made of welded steel and weighs five and a half tons

I don't know what there is about a campfire that is so mesmerizing but the world and all its problems fade into the task of keeping the flame going.
It is getting harder and harder to find a place to be able to go that is either not fenced off, too close to the highway, annexed and etc. to enjoy this simply pleasure. This is a family tradition we enjoy and thankfully we were yet able to enjoy it this year.

The days you actually went to the post office and got your mail. Our post office box number was 235 and I was just barely tall enough to work the dials.

Around home

I thought it would be fun to share some things around my home on occasion. These two dolls were bought for me by my husband. They were handmade and the hair is actual Indian hair. The jewelry is authentic and when you pick one of these dolls up you would swear you were holding a baby.
The box they are sitting on was a toy tool box of my Dad's so it is over 100 years old:)

Record bowl

Saw this on the news this morning. They are bowls made from old records! I have a whole bunch of old records, 78 RPM and 45's...I could make a whole set haha.

1. I passed state board for my beautician license but never held a job as one.

2. I competed in the Worlds Fast Draw Association for many years and held many championships including the International Fast Draw Champion in 1978.

3. I taught myself how to sew and made my husband and I show outfits. Our highlight show was when we were hired by Westinghouse to do a show for the Army in Washington DC.
Boy did we get a lot of attention in Western clothes!

4. I wrote the book "Buckskin Bessie - Her Lost Letters"; Check out the link to the left.
It was a most wonderful, unexpected adventure.

5. Although happily married I have begun to travel alone a little. I felt that I needed to expand myself and it has been eyeopening!

6. I have a parrot named Toby and he hollers "hello" when I answer the phone so I am sure people probably think I stutter.

7. I taught myself to sign and have been privileged to influence the creation of a Deaf ministry at my church.

Movie review

My hubby and I go to the movies most every Fri. so I am going to start posting a movie review on Sat. Please feel free to add you own movie and review as well.


American Gangster.....true story and a good movie. Violence typical of a gangster movie but the acting was great.
Only negative is it is three hours long.

Charm Bracelet

I just bought this charm bracelet on ebay. It is travel themed and has 25 charms from all over the USA. I have traveled to almost all of the places and just never thought about doing this! I am so excited as will now add to it all the places I have been that there are no charms for and buy one for the places I go in the future!
It also has inspired me to start one for my grandaughter who is 10 yrs. It will be one of her Christmas presents:)

Till death do us part

" In sickness and health, till death do us part"........It sounds a lot different when you are young with everything ahead of you but when that day comes how do you cope?

This question is ever present on my mind because of trying to comfort a friend who is in this place. It is a difficult question due to the immortality of us all and hits a little too close to home when you are in your golden years. I know all the pat answers but they just don't seem to patch a broken heart.

True Riches

True riches is being free to go when you want and come home when you want. Our jaunt was fine but didn't really like the facility we were staying at so even though the second night was paid for...we chose to come home:)

Last week I showed a tablecloth embroidered by my Grandmother. I was asked if I had a picture of her to share and it reminded me of this one. It is her engagement picture to my Grandfather. What is so unusual about this picture is that it is an actual tin. I have no idea how they embedded the pictures onto it.

Daily Routines

Daily routines....we all have them. Here are a few of mine.

1. A cup of coffee

Karaoke

Don't knock it if you have never tried it! Not only is it your opportunity to try something new, it is an opportunity to encourage others to step up and shine.
My hubby and I have fallen into a little group of Karaoke singers and it is amazing how you can make friends just by singing.
ps...it's a lot more fun than in the shower:)

A Quickie

A man goes into a cafe, looks at the menu, and says to the waitress, "I'd like a quickie," The waitress gives him a dirty look and asks what he'd like for lunch. "I want a quickie," the man repeats.




The waitress slaps him in the face and orders him to leave. As he's leaving another diner says to him..............................................

Well, my old computer monitor and keyboard wasn't this old....but it did require a lot of room compared to my new flat screen monitor and the letters on the keyboard were worn off! Can't figure out why I put off buying new things that make my life so much more enjoyable........Always tend to think "Oh, I don't really need that" and here my theme is changes is the wind:)

Show and Tell Friday is the opportunity to display something that is dear to you that you have in your home or garden. I wanted to partipate in this because I have been blessed with so many things that have been passed down to me.

My first show and tell is a picture of a tablecloth my Maternal Grandmother made when she was 16 years old (1896). She was born in Bolnislan, Sweden and immigrated to the USA in 1907. This is one of the things she brought with her in her immigrants trunk. This type of embroidery is called “bondesom”. It is a solid stitch done in bright colors. People in the mountains loved bright colors. It is in perfect condition and only wished I could ask her how long it took her to make it:)

Halloween is for the adults....not the kids:)
If you don't believe me just go to an adult party! You will see the most amazing costumes and true enough, it is hard to tell who is who!
